Strongwater Wedding In Columbus, Oh

Caitlyn + Jon

Caitlyn and Jon’s wedding day was nothing short of amazing! Caitlyn kept saying, “This is exactly what I envisioned!” from the first glimpse of herself in the mirror after getting dressed to seeing her reception decor. After years of planning, it was so much fun seeing all of their hard work and preparations come together so perfectly!

They are truly such a sweet couple and have an incredible group of friends who made their wedding party a blast to work with! The day was full of so much laughter and love you couldn’t help but feel happy being a part of it all. Not to mention, Caitlyn was glowing the entire day! (Just wait until you see her bridal portraits!)

Caitlyn and Jon both attended Ohio University and first met while delivering subs for Jimmy John’s—take note of the Jimmy Chips incorporated into the reception! They went through school together and then moved to Columbus where Jon attended Capital University Law School. They wisely decided to have a longer engagement, so he could focus on finishing school and passing the Bar Exam. He now is an associate attorney at Kooperman Mentel Ferguson Yaross here in Columbus. Caitlyn is a great realtor with KW Greater Columbus Realty and is truly passionate about finding her clients their dream homes.

I first met Caitlyn when she was a bridesmaid in one of her best friends wedding I photographed a few years ago and I remember her telling me then that she wasn’t engaged yet, but as soon as she was she would be in touch! Shortly after that wedding I got an excited email from Caitlyn saying she was engaged and wanted to talk details. She is one of those people who absolutely LOVES photos and it was at the top of her list of things that were most important to her on her wedding day (aka, my dream client!). Needless to say, she and I got along incredibly well and had so much fun talking photo ideas as we got closer to the big day.

Jon and I actually attended the same high school and he has been a groomsman in two past weddings I’ve photographed. He was a natural in front of my camera and most of his groomsmen were former classmates of mine, which made everything that much better! When I asked Jon what he was most looking forward to in marrying Caitlyn he said, “loving her, growing old together, and always having my best friend with me.” (cue the tears!) I’m telling you, they are just that sweet!

I don’t think Caitlyn and Jon could have asked for a more beautiful day to get married! July is always a toss up on the temperature and these two lucked out. The sun was shining all day and it was a comfortable 80 degrees. They chose to have an outdoor ceremony in the courtyard at Strongwater. Michelle McClain of Whimsical Impressions created a unique copper pipe arbor draped with greenery and fabric that served as the perfect focal point and tied in wonderfully with the space. It is always such a dream to photograph at Strongwater— there are so many interesting nooks and crannies within the old manufacturing space and because it’s surrounded by industrial bridges, great breweries, and interesting street art, the photo opportunities are endless. I just love the urban warehouse aesthetic contrasted with a white wedding dress and romantic decor. There is so much built in character and history, which is why it’s one of my favorite venues to work with!

Congratulations again to Caitlyn and Jon— thank you both so much for allowing me to capture your big day! xo
