Anniversary Photo Session, in Winter Park Florida
Rachael + Andrew
Rachael and Andrew are truly one of my most favorite couples! They are so sweet, down to earth, incredibly funny and Andrew’s audition for “The Great British Bake Off” is a must see! We have been friends forever, before marriage and kids and multiple moves around the country. It was so wonderful to see them and I was so excited to be able to capture these gorgeous moments during their anniversary session, amid a trip to the sunshine state. We got together on the most jaw-droppingly beautiful campus of Rollins College, in Winter Park Florida. The lush palm trees, Spanish moss and amazing architecture created such a romantic backdrop for these love birds.
When Rachael reached out to me about taking anniversary photos to celebrate 10 years of wedded bliss, I absolutely loved the idea. Most of us are guilty of only getting professional photos during big milestones in our lives; engagement, wedding or birth of a child. Before you know it, its been 15 years and the last professional photos of you and your spouse were on your wedding day. That big day is just the beginning of a lifetime of moments worth capturing, “just because” is the perfect excuse!
I asked Rachael to share with me the mindset behind her inclination to plan this anniversary session. I knew it would be meaningful and as beautifully written and she is.
“I love to celebrate life’s milestones – big and small. For a while, it’s easy to commemorate big moments. Graduations and weddings and children seemed to follow one another for a bit, and capturing those memories with photography is natural. I have loads of images of me from a decade ago smiling down from my walls, and a million snaps of my little guy, but slowly a gap formed. My husband and I aren’t those newlyweds anymore; we’re so much more! That is why I was so happy that we chose to commemorate our anniversary with special photo shoot.
No longer those crazy-in-love kids, we are crazy-in-love 30-somethings with a lot more wisdom, and a lot more life under our belts. This shoot - which happened to showcase a new home state, and the start of our tenth year as husband and wife – celebrates all that we’ve accomplished, and all that we’ve become. A family, yes, but also a stronger, even MORE committed couple. I can’t thank Tessa enough for capturing such meaningful images – We’ll treasure them always.” — Rachael
